La Trinidad Agricultural School (TAS) training department was created in 1939. The department was served as a training ground for students of the Special Secondary Normal College of TAS prior to teaching practice in the elementary schools over the mountain provinces. It was then headed by Dr. Bonifacio Sibayan, who later became the president of the Philippine Normal College.
Fifteen years later, the management, administration and operations of the department were turned over to the Department of Education. This is the creation of the Ilang Elementary School (IES) in 1954 with Mr. Albert P. Laoyan as the Head Teacher and  the first Principal.
On January 1, 1977, the IES with Prof. Teresita S. Badua as Principal and 32 faculty and staff, was formally affiliated with the Mountain State Agricultural College. It was sign by Dr. Bruno M. Santos, MSAC President and Undersecretary Narciso Albarracin (Ministry of Education) led to the renaming of the school from Benguet State University Elementary Training Department under the Presidential Proclamation No. 2010, 1986 series by President Ferdinand E. Marcos, to Elementary Laboratory School (ELS). Dr. Marcelina L. Bolona took the lead Elementary Laboratory School (September 16, 2015 to present)

System education in Philippine is included formal and non-formal. Compared to with other Asian countries, the education system in the Philippines is different in some places. The education system is influenced by nation's colonial history. America's contribution is very important in the education system in the Philippines. Management education in the Philippines is divided into two, that is education basic who uses K-12 curriculum and education high. Related with the education system in the Philippines, after the implementation of K-12,  the educational system changed from 10 years to 12 years. The Philippines applied education based on standard through policy of curriculum framework and standard development. Scope standard national education in Philippine includes six aspect as the following:

For the support of the teaching and learning process at the Elementary Laboratory School, the teachers use blackboard facilities, books, laptops, and environment tools. In addition, the learning resources at Elementary School includes tools environment, library, pictures and sports equipment.
